Course Outline
This MSc in Nursing (for Non-EU applicants) is a full-time programme taken over 12 months commencing in September of each year. It is designed to provide international students from outside Ireland and the EU (ie non-EU applicants) and from a range of different nursing backgrounds with a non-clinical Master’s degree. The program is non-clinical, comprising theory modules only.
The programme is divided into two parts with a total of 90 credits:
- Part I comprises theory modules up to 70 credits
- Part II comprises a Dissertation in Nursing (20 credits)

Learning outcomes
On successful completion of this non-clinical pathway, you should be able to:
- exercise enhanced personal and professional competence through accountability and autonomy in professional practice;
- practice with greater insight into the research-base, ethical, socio-political, and professional underpinnings of nursing/midwifery and health care;
- demonstrate higher levels of judgment in the practice of nursing/midwifery through the generation of nursing knowledge for innovative nursing and midwifery practice;
- act as innovators and leaders in a chosen area and contribute to practice development and best practice;
- teach others from a broad and in-depth knowledge base, derived from critical reflection on nursing practice and the development of critical inquiry of disciplinary knowledge base in nursing and midwifery.

- NU6073 Dissertation in Nursing (20 credits)
Requirements
Applicants for the MSc in Nursing (Non-EU) should meet the following requirements:
Hold active registration on a division of the professional register maintained by the Nursing Board/Statutory Body in their own country;
Hold a primary degree in nursing (Minimum 2nd class honours standard) Or hold a Higher/Postgraduate Diploma in the relevant nursing area;
If your first language is not English, you must provide current evidence (within 2 years) of Minimum English Language proficiency – the list of UCC-approved English language qualifications are available here on the UCC English Language Requirements page.
Non-Clinical Pathway: There are no specific post-registration practice requirements for applicants to this pathway, although some clinical experience in the area of interest is desirable.
Entry to this programme is highly competitive, and therefore applicants who present all required documentation at the time of application will be prioritised for processing.

- Original qualification documents listed on your application including transcripts of results from institutions other than UCC.
